Accelerated Reader online quizzes
To transition from AR to online AR. Allows students instant, up to date access to current AR quizzes. Current system only allows a limited number of quizzes. With online system, students are able to read and test their comprehension on more than 140,000 books. With this system, parents are able to have instant access to student progress on the AR program via any online computer.
Because AR program is currently in place, an online transition would be very simple. Glenshire has adequate internet access to run this program. Students and teachers are already familiar with the program.
Teachers and parents will be able to gauge appropriate reading levels instantly. Students will have access to books they want to read with the ability to be tested on their comprehension of these books. Students in grades 1-5 use this system.
Accelerated Reader has been an integral part of the literacy program at Glenshire Elementary for many years. In the past, we have requested funding from Ex in Ed for individual quizzes. This year we would like to transition to the on-line AR program. There are many benefits to transitioning to the on-line program. AR online allows students instant access to the most current book quizzes. This program also allows students and families access to the AR tools from any internet computer. This access helps parents take an active role in their child's education and furthers communication between families and school. Finally, to further our goal of district wide standardization Glenshire Elementary would have the same AR on-line program all of the other elementary schools have in the district.
In PLC''s, teachers will use the data from the comprehension quizzes to discuss teaching strategies for comprehension. Students can also be clustered in groups for intervention and enrichment.
