Bill Parsons with the North Tahoe Rotary is willing to purchase two pieces of equipment, one for the Middle School and one for the High School, if we match funds. Currently awaiting description from sites as to what is being purchased. Will hold funds until we receive information.
Books and library materials for two classroom libraries. Will be stocked with a variety of reading material attractive to readers and non-readers of all abilities. Libraries in the classroom provide accessibility in a supportive environment which promotes literacy among all students.
Purchase of additional 8th Grade Core Books. Expand the current selections that are outdated and the majority of the books focus on historical fiction. Gives students a wider selection with more updated selections.
Leveled reading books will be used to target the assessed reading levels of students who are below grade level. Books to be used in small groups.
Color Laser Jet Printer and scanner to be used with the graphic design class. Equipment will be housed in the library accessible to all students. Also will be used for publishing programs for middle school functions.
The River Tank Ecosystem provides an opportunity for students to observe and study a cross section of a riverbank. The tank consists of deep pools, waterfalls, caves, currents and ledges for plants and animals.
Equipment necessary for safe instruction of winter backcountry travel in Lake Tahoe. Safety tools in avalanche training will be used as a part of a four week unit of winter awareness during physical education.
Fosss kits targeting eight grade science. Activities cover the Earth as a celestial object, then goes on to lunar exploration and then the solar system.
Two Foss kits designed ant tested with middle school kids in mind. Human brain investigates how the brain and senses acquire, interpret and respond to information. The Earth History investigates rocks and fossils to discover clues that reveal Earth's history.
