Grant is to build a library of teaching tools to differentiate language arts instruction found in the Reading /Language Arts Framework for California. These literacy activities will provide individualized instruction in phonemic awareness, sound sorting, phonics, word building, high frequency words, spelling, sentence building, story writing and comprehension.
Digital cameras in the classroom will enhance many different projects that are part of the daily activities at Tahoe Lake School. Students and teachers will be able to meet the needs of tying academic and technology standards into projects.
Brain Gym, developed by Dr. Paul Dennison combines quick, simple task specific movements to encourage whole brain learning. ?Movement Center? is a one-hour, once a week program where students rotate through various movement activities. These activities include fine motor skills, balance skills, body awareness in space skills, eye/hand coordination skills and gross motor skills.
This project will provide additional Orff Instruments (xylophones, met allophones) and guitars for T. L. E. School students. With the integration of the additional fourth and fifth grade students from the Rideout School the instructional needs of the forth and fifth grade students are currently not being met. The addition of these instruments will shorten the waiting time to use these instruments and provide a longer hands-on learning experience and less down time.
Math materials for 1st through 3rd grade, consisting of computer software, math libraries, accelscan, support plan and flashcards to help accelerate the math standards.
The painting of a snowball target range mural featuring local flora and geographical landmarks facing the school's playground entrance. The project will benefit all grade levels.
The tool and Die system is a machine that cuts shapes from a variety of materials to be used in the classroom by students and teachers.
