This Spanish magazine immerses intermediate/advanced learners in the language and culture of Spanish-speaking countries. With articles on on real teens, fascinating traditions, and pop culture trends abroad, El Sol is sure to engage students while they build comprehension and speaking skills.
Students can read an article and use Common Core standards for summarizing, comparing, and analyzing topical stories from the US and international sources. Students will be able to read Spanish at an academic level and participate in classroom discussions about the themes. Students will be able to look at two different sources and synthesize the information from both.
Students will be measured by their Spanish comprehension; preparation for discussions; and analytical thinking of current contovesial issues promoting higher level tasks.
The subscription provides current events and non-fiction reading for students. The magazine also has questions for discussion and activities for students to do in class or at home. Students can read the magazines independently, with a partner, or whole group.
This can be used in 5th through 8th grades.
