  Fourth grade students will experience "Living History" at a local campground, recreating and enacting daily life activities of California settlers in the mid-1800's.   These funds will continue to assist The Laker school newspaper. A variety of journalism equipment will be purchased to help develop independence for the school newspaper, as they are currently reliant on outside assistence to publish the paper. - $1570

  An additional television will be purchased to help support the Tec Cart already in existance at the school. This cart is used in a variety of classroom serttings and an additional television will mean greater excessibility to a large number of students. - $300

  These funds will be used to enhance the curriculum by adding courses through Distance Learninhg. Several courses will be purchased, consisting of videos and books, and will be made available to students at the school and throughout the district. - $1600

  Weight lifting equipment and mats will be purchased for a new exercise room at the middl school. This will assist the physical education teachers in teaching strenght training and stretching in an attempt to help students adopt a healthy lifestyle. - $1000

  A weather station will be installed at Sierra Mountain Middle School capable of gathering weather data while connected to a classroom computer. This will allow students to study our local weather and apply this knowlege during math, social studies, language arts and science classes. - $1570

  This project involves th purchase of a Life Lab Science garden. The garden is an innovative, hands on, "Living Laboratory" approach to elementary science education. It is a comprehensive program of life, Earth, and physical science where learning is centered within the contxt of a schools garden. - $1071
