This grant is for fifteen student size guitars and cases, to be used in the classroom of the 3rd through 5th graders. Students will work in pairs to learn proper technique for chording, strumming and finger picking; with instruction from the music teacher - $2250

This grant is to continue the development of the supplemental math program at Glenshire for students having difficulty with the State Standards, and for students who are accelerating in math. This grant includes the purchase of an Expansion kit for 50 students, Library for grades 3and 6. Learning cards for 3rd through 6th grades and a Scanner. - $6489

This grant request is to complete a previous awarded grant for a complete Literacy Library to service 300 students. This library of manipulatives includes materials to reach phonemic awareness, sound sorting, word building, high frequency words, spelling and other literacy tools. These learning kits will be housed together and be attainable to all teachers. - $1806

This grant provides for expository texts for read alouds and guided reading to accompany the GEMS science units. These books will be used as a means of enhancing the science concepts, teaching reading strategies and comprehension and promoting English Language development. An additional amount of $1000 is being asked for, for the Spanish Immersion Program. - $2200
- Enhancing State- Mandated Phonics with CELL Based lessons - McCartney
This grant will purchase Phonics lesson books (in which lessons are incorporated within the CELL framework), Read Alouds, Poetry anthologies (which emphasize the phonics skill) and magnetic letters (used in the literacy center) teachers will be able to more effectively teach to the state standards for phonics in reading and spelling and in writing. - $3000
- Fith Grade Combination Locks - Bendock
This grant request is to purchase a class set of thirty combination locks. This will enable fifth grade students to practice opening combination locks before entering middle school. This grant will alleviate one of the major anxieties that 5th graders feel entering middle school. The locks will be inventoried and shared with all the 5th graders. - $145
- Through Children's Eyes - Beaudry
This grant request is to purchase LCD Multimedia Projector, digital camera, picture frames, disk storage and batteries for use by the 4th and 5th graders and staff. This grant will expose the students to the profession of photojournalism as a medium of documenting news events and the daily lives of children in the school. Students will be trained in digital camera use, present their ideas to an editor, and cover the new events. Slide shows and a yearly exhibit will be held to feature the top student photographers. - $2000

Students in the Culinary/ Nutrition program (a vocational arts credit) cannot make products requiring fermentation period as the class time is too short. The acquisition of a proofing cabinet will reduce the time required for fermentation period and proofing stage. With this cabinet in place there is also a possibility of opening up an Advanced Baking and Pastry Class in the future. - $2502

EASY (English Academic Success for You) is a multimedia curriculum that uses video and interactive CD-ROMs to teach community life skills and English Language Development. EASY is a standards based ESL program designed for Beginners thru Intermediate Learners. The program includes reproducible worksheets and tests to access student learning. These materials would be kept in the Library and would be available to all NTMS and NTHS students and teachers. - $2710

- Ceramic Klin Replacement - Teller
Because there is basic aging deterioration to the refractory lining of the kiln there are no options except to replace the kiln. The project contemplated is simply to replace the well used but geriatric kiln and the accessories that are associated with the replacement. The kiln proposed is the current version of the kiln now in use and has a 45 year life span. - $6979

This grant would provide eight sets of four layer pull down maps (a combination of physical and political maps of California, The United States, and The World) three pull down maps of California (Political Maps), and one globe ball with cradle showing ocean currents.
