Description
This grant will:
- generate a buzz around reading
- help Foundation students acheive their Accelerated Reading objectives for their English classes
- help increase students' STAR reading level
Success of Program
Success will be measured by:
- number of books read,
- number of AR tests taken,
- student and faculty participation,
- student feedback.
Implementation
Implementation includes:
- selection of titles by librarian and Foundations teachers,
- purchase of titles,
- creation of activities,
- promotion of titles to students,
- student reading of books and participation in activities,
- voting for favorite book.

Last year, we used a combination of English Department and library funds to jumpstart this program.
Notes
Battle of the Books was very popular last year. Although this is for Foundations classes, we find that many more students enjoy participating in the reading fun!
