This tool is designed to help the students of Truckee Elementary interact with geography and social studies in a fun and exciting way. It is meant to bring the curriculum in all grades to life! Additionally, the objective of this tool is to bring familes together during an evening "National Geogrpahic Family Night" to work and play with the giant map. The map comes premade lessons and tools to teach these lessons.
This map was previously funded by Truckee PTO last year. It was a big success! The students were engaged in the learning games and it was directly connected to each grades social studies standards in a unique way(15 classes participated). Addtionally, the success of the map will be measured by student engagement, teacher sign ups, and the turn out of the family night.
This map will be rented for 2 weeks for $610. The map will be set up in the gym for teacher to sign their class up as many time as desired in 30 minute time slots using a google shared spreadsheet.
Yes, this map offers endless educational activities and connections to our social studies and language arts standards accross the grade levels. Last year over 15 classes participated in the two weeks it was at Truckee Elementary.
