Students need to make graphs often in our CPM program and in science. The press-on graphs would save time during math class where students and teachers often need more time to complete daily lessons. The graphs support the Standards of Mathematic Practices: (1) Model with mathematics, (2) Use appropriate tools strategically, and (3) Attend to precision.
Success of this tool will be measured by an increase in accuracy of student-created graphs. Students who do not have notebooks with graph paper do not take the time to measure equal increments with a ruler on their binder paper. The press-on graphs would eliminate the need for either creating x & y axes with a ruler, or cutting and pasting graph paper onto their binder paper/notebooks.
The press-on graphs would be implemented during math and science classes whenever students are required to create a graph.
This grant would tie into our math and science PLC's, but will not be a significant factor.
All students in CPM would have these graphs available to them for use.
