To increase reading levels and create a love for reading.

Success of Program

Frequent assessments (sight words, phonics, running records-reading level and comprehension) will provide a clear picture of their success as a reader.

Implementation

Whole group reading of more challenging fiction and nonfiction books.  Students will either read along or track while teacher reads aloud. Stories may also be used in a guided reading group to prepare less capable students for whole group reading. Books may also be used after instruction for independent reading.
