Xylophones are barred percussion instruments. With these instruments, students are able to create music, learn to read music and apply it to the instrument. They can play familiar songs as well as new songs. This type of instrument also helps students with their gross motor skills.

Right now I have groups of students share each instrument during music time. With the addition of more instruments, I’ll be able to have more students playing at the same time plus we will have a wider range of sounds.
Barred instruments fall under the California State Standards under 1.0 Artistic Percetion and 2.0 Creative Expression for all grade levels.
