Description

This grant application is requesting the purchase of 10- flipFORM risers. The risers are versatile, multi-position platforms for general and music elementary classrooms, and theater use. Each riser can be formatted to sit, stand or as a platform. The pocket-molded hand grips, easy-moving recessed wheels, and lightweight design make it easy to flip them up or roll them away. These fun, innovative products turn any space into an exciting setting in no time. When necessary, these flipFORMS can be easily moved or stored standing straight up to maximize classroom space.

Benefits of Program

“Children who sing/dance/act/play their little hearts …  tend to have enhanced cognitive, motor, and social development.” (Savacool). 

All students at Kings Beach TWBI school will benefit from the grant. Our younger students will have the opportunity to perform for their families in a small setting. In addition, upper Elementary performances will be enhanced. As a language school, our students will benefit from performing in their native language as well as their second language. The risers will be used daily in the music classroom and library. Due to their versatility, the risers will be moved within the school to support different group settings.

Success of Program

Success will be measured by students' engagement, language development and ability to execute a performance. We look forward to continuing already existing performances; as well as beginning new traditions for our school community. Success will also be measured through annual performances and concerts by our bilingual students. 

The risers will enhance our core science, social studies and language arts curriculum by providing performances directly connected with our fields of study. In addition, the music program will be immensely enriched; risers will allow sound to travel more effectively, enhancing the projection and clarity of instruments and voice. Lastly, our library will also be enhanced as some risers will be placed to elevate the reader and project their voice.

Implementation

The risers will be placed in high traffic areas such as our music classroom and library; as well as other areas the faculty determine is the best place to store while not in direct use. We are excited for Kindergarten to perform a Winter/Spring play. The music program will also use the risers during annual events such as the holiday concert. All classroom teachers will have access to use at their discretion, i.e. Readers Theater, performing for other classes, guest speakers, special presentations or awards.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

Yes, the 10 - flipFORM risers will be available to the entire Kings Beach Elementary faculty.

Sustainability
The flipForm risers will be stored in a collaborative space as well as our music classroom and library. The risers are built with molded, high-density polyethylene making them nearly indestructible. No additional funding requests are anticipated.

flipFOrm Risers are sold through a variety of vendors, the current lowest price was from West Music; however this has changed periodically. Applicable taxes will generate after payment was ordered.; therefore I was unable to get.
