Description

Our objective is always to support high levels of learning for all students.  Research has shown that soundfield amplification systems are the most cost-effective technology for faciliteing classroom listening, and therefore increasing student achievement.  Students must be able to hear instruction in order to learn, and often the interference noise in a classroom is highly distracting for students.  Research has shown that difficult listening conditions not only make learning more difficult, but also reduce the energy for performing other cognitive and linguistic functions.  A soundfield system essentially puts every student in the front row, increasing their ability to attend, process, focus, and learn at high levels.

Success of Program

Student achievment is measured on a regular basis.  With the use of soundfield systems in every classroom, we anticipate that we will continue to see student achievement grow, especially in students who have difficulty attending to instruction.

Implementation

All teachers will wear the soundfield amplification system for all whole group instruction.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

Funding this grant will directly enhance student achievement, which is the focus of every PLC.  Additionally, because of the feedback from our 1st and 2nd grade PLCs on the effectiveness of the amplification systems, we want to be able to use them in every classroom.  In addition to teacher use, the amplification systems can be used to support the audio quality of student responses and presentations.
