Description
- Establish a collection of eBooks available for TTUSD students through the libraries of Truckee High School, North Tahoe Schools and Alder Creek Middle School.
- Students would have access to library eBooks at any time. Ebooks could be used for research, assigned reading or free reading.
- Students would be able to checkout eBooks to their home computer, internet devices (itouch, ipad, iphone) or their personal eReader (Kindle, Nook.)
- Classes may download eBooks to the current school site iPads and Kindles for inclass use.
- The libraries would also have Kindles available for checkout.
Success of Program
Circulation statistics would show the usage of eBooks by students and teachers throughout our schools and guide the librarians for future purchases.
Implementation
Using this grant, the librarians from the three schools would collborate to select a wide range of fiction and non-fiction eBooks. Our goal would be to build a shared collection of eBooks that would engage, motivate and be an effective resource for TTUSD students. The grant would establish our collection of eBooks, and provide eReaders for check out at each participating library. The secondary librarians have committed to continue purchasing eBooks through a portion of the Measure A library budget to add new titles each year-(approximately $3/per student).

- The libraries are collaborating on district wide purchasing to establish a consistant eBook program alligned to the curriculum.
- The librarians will purchase eBooks directly aligned with the Common Core Standards and accessable schoolwide to each PLC.
- The eBook program will enhance students' 21st Century skills.
