Description

The objective of this program is to empower students to take responsibility for/pride in the progress that they are making on improving their literacy skills and abilities.  Also, this software allows the District to track students' progress over time, which is critical since data show that strong literacy skills are a key indicator of future success in school and life.

Success of Program

Students will be able to track their progress over time, and will be able to know exactly what reading level they are at currently.

Implementation

This is an electronic program that is accessed through the Internet, and can be accessed on computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

Yes!  Accelerated Learner could be used by teachers to help track reading progress, SSR (Silent Sustained Reading) progress and comprehension, the types and titles of books that students are interested in, and are currently reading, etc.

Other funding sources
This is a program that we would like all of our students using from Kinder through 12th grade. It is a hope that our students will learn the software at a young age, and continue to use it throughout their academic career. Since this is something that we would like all of our students to use, it is something that we would hope would be initiated and paid for by the district (so that we would not need to burden site budgets with a program they have not budgeted for); that being said, the District does not currently have the funding to support this program Districtwide, which is unfortunate.
