This grant proposal is for the purchase and installation of a short throw projector in my classroom. Last year, I was a member of the Classroom Design of the Future Team. I worked with 7 other innovative teachers who collaborated to increase student engagement through experimenting with the future of classroom design. I am seeking to purchase the MimioProjector 280I Interactive Projector from the same company I purchased the interactive whiteboard. With this form of projection, the projector is mounted above the whiteboard, rather than in the center of the room. This is an interactive, out of the way tool for students and teachers to interact from anywhere in the classroom. The benefits of this method of lesson delivery is to have movement in the classroom to monitor student progress. Additionally, with the projector mounted above the whiteboard, there is increase floor space for student movement and collaboration and reduced shadow on the interactive whiteboard. This tool directly pairs with the Mimo Wireless Pen Tablet Interactive Whiteboard, and MimioMobile App, I currently am piloting in my classroom. Additionally, I am writing this grant for the MimioView Document camera that is paired with these other tools for optimal use of these interactive tools. Benefits of this document camera are Plugging into a single USB computer port for both power and data, no external power sources or wall cords needed, autofocus by pushing a single button, capturing both dimensional objects and flat documents, two adjustable light sources, saving work by easily annotating images and creating files to use over and over, and enjoying exceptional detail with high-definition 1920x1080 imaging. I am seeking these items to increase my and the student's mobility and engagement to the next level in the classroom.
