Description

To increase student engagenment through the implementation of classroom furniture and student-centered workspace design.

To provide student-centric, multi-modal learning spaces that prepare students for high school and career communication and collaboration.

Success of Program

I will compare student scores on collaborative work rubrics to years past.

I will survey studnets and families for specific feedback on their experiences with each specific component of the new classroom and correlate their feedback with academic achievement.

I will connect with the Peak Program teacher at Truckee High School, Krista Strecker, who has implemented a "Classroom of the Future" to share challenges and successes and recieve feedback.

Implementation

Redesign the clasroom work space to maximize options for student independent and collaborative work and ease of use for intergrated technology.

Replace current classroom furniture with contemporary classroom furniture designed for student engagement and tested in pilot classrooms across the district.

Can you share this grant with your grade level or subject team?

While this grant wuld be specific to my classroom, it would serve as a pilot program at Sierra Expeditionary Learning School. Successful elements would be integrated into future 7th and 8th grade classrooms.
